A warm welcome from us all at Incheoch.
Things are gearing up for our annual ‘Working Genes’ sale on 8th September 2026. We are really looking forward to welcoming you on-farm this year.
SALE DETAILS:
After a lot of thought and consultation, we are going to work the same Yourbid system as last year –with most buyers here viewing the stock on sale day.
- Bid from home if you’re harvesting, or can’t get a ferry.
- Bid from your phone in the pen of rams.
- Come to the sale, don’t touch any devices, and pass a bidding slip to one of the auction staff from the bull pens.
- Bidders found it easier to buy to a budget last year – being able to move both forward and back in the catalogue. All lots stay ‘live’ until that section finishes.
- All lots in £ not guineas.
- Split closing times between breeds to take pressure off bidders trying to buy from more than one section (Bulls 4pm, Texels 5pm, Lleyn 6pm).
We know this might not suit everybody, but it seems the right time to give it a proper shot.
Viewing Days:
Bulls and Rams will be available for viewing on Sunday 30th August and Thursday 3rd September 2026 from 3pm to 8pm (the barbeque should be going). Give us a call if you can’t make it and want to come another day.
Rams will be at Shealwalls Farm:
Coming north from Alyth, PH11 8HJ brings you close, but take left turn signed Dykehead just before you get to Incheoch. Turn immediately left again on farm road, and first left to Shealwalls.

Working Genes Ram Sale
Entire production of shearling rams offered (40-50 Texel, 40-50 Lleyn).
Brought out for sale on grass alone, bred & developed to be hardy, active rams.
What are the odds on picking the right Lleyn ram? 1000:1
- Over 1000 Incheoch Lleyn ewes, with the poorest performing 1/3 bred to Texel
- 700 fully recorded dams, with 350 top performing, proven ewes in stud flock to breed rams
- Around 300 male stud lambs tagged at birth (1/3 castrated)
- Another 1/3 selected to cull at weaning
- 100 ram lambs further selected through muscle & backfat scanning, individual FEC tests
- 60 rams wintered on maintenance diet
- 45 rams selected for Working Genes sale
- 1 sale day – with all records available to help you pick the right combination of traits for your unique requirements

Working Genes Bull Sale
Robust bulls, bred from functional, efficient cows has been our goal for many years now. We run just over 200 pedigree, performance recorded cows selected for fertility, structural soundness, good temperament and easy calving. We find that easy-fleshed, medium framed cattle with a bit of maternal character tend to be the ones who tick the boxes. We try to bring forward bulls that can transfer these traits into your herd.
Entire bull production offered – 15-20 month bulls, summered at pasture and developed with fertility and longevity in mind.
Wintering option available.
The current bull-sale system is pushing us to have bigger and bigger cattle…when our cows are already too big…and heavier fed bulls…when bulls aren’t lasting long enough anyway.
